2019 SHIFT BIDDING INFORMATION

PROBATIONARY FF PLACEMENT

Per Article #32 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement the picks will be made first in rank order, then by time in rank, and finally by firefighter seniority.  The plan for this year's rookies will be that once an individual is looking to completely fill the positions at Stations 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 the bidding process will be paused to determine if a rookie will be assigned to fill that position.  So for example, three of the 4 positions are filled at Station 1 and an individual wants to fill the last position, the picks will be paused and a decision whether or not to place one of the rookies there will be made.  The process will continue this way until all of the rookies have been assigned, same process as last year.

STATION #5

Station 5 becoming a jump company for 2019, when we are at 22 personnel, will NOT take place.  Should staffing be at 22 personnel for the day Engine 5 will continue to operate as a 3 person engine and Ambulance 5 will be out of service for the day.  With the staffing levels what they are and the probability of Ambulance 5 being up a majority of the time the 5C position will be a spot that can be bid this year.  The 5C position will however be the person that does potentially float out of Station 5, if Ambulance 5 is down, and no one is off at Station 5.

FLOATERS

The floaters again will also bid as they did last year.  They will be assigned to the shift with no specific station assignment.  They will have the ability to store their belongings at the station of their choice but that station will not be their assigned building.  The floating firefighters will now be assigned to the floating Lieutenant for the shift so that any correspondence/information being sent thru the Company Officers is being shared with them from one definitive source.
